I removed the beta version of IE9 this morning, because McAfee was not behaving properly. There are issues, according to McAfee’s technical support. So…downloaders beware. Don’t make the same mistake as I. Early adopters be forewarned, procrastinate.

The Journey as Metaphor

The journey as metaphor is an ancient one. Just google the phrase and you’ll see what I mean. Do you have a favourite song, poem or writing that uses journey as a metaphor? I would love to hear about it. Just post a comment.

I’m compelled to consider the metaphor, because I’ve found a new blog that embodies it. The author is the Practical Professor. She is sharing her journey with the world. I encourage you to  join her.

As you type quick fixes are commonplace these days. The ability for your wordprocessing software to fill in dates or complete ”standard” versions of words or phrases has drawbacks for the user. The date format you prefer is completed in a format that you don’t – and you can’t find the default setting to change the way the computer interprets dates. Darn annoying to me. Special Delivery and similar phrases are completed although you really wanted Special Delineation.

Google has launched Instant Google. Before you finish typing in your search word or phrase, Google will make a leap and complete it for you. Google will read your mind. How much time am I going to waste converting the assumption to my intended word or phrase?  When I’m searching, I’m often looking for the unusual. That’s the reason I’m searching!

I’m off to search for polar cruises, antarctica cruise, arctic expedition and see just how annoying Instant Google has become.
