Playing with my camera settings

Adelies, Devil Island, AntarcticaHow many settings does your camera have? My Sony Alpha has more than I can count, and way more than I had used. That was until I visited Devil Island, Antarctica.

Our resident photographer, Sue Flood, who has a great reputation as a wildlife photographer, did a fine presentation that inspired me to take the time to change settings while shooting. You can see one of the results to the right. Foreground in focus, background out of focus. Avant-garde for me. Really, really ordinary for photographers as experienced as Sue.

  1. Hello Polarprisca.

I have not also calculated how many settings my Nikon D300 has, but once a year I am reading thru its manual with 422 pages. It is helpful and I recommend it to everybody.

    Happy Monday.
